During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the organizers transformed containers into temporary houses and established a "fan village" for fans' accommodation. Now, these containers are being reused and transported to the earthquake-stricken area in Turkey to provide shelters for the victims.

During the 2022 World Cup, the Qatar side established a "fan village" in the capital Doha. These temporary houses made of containers each have an area of more than 10 square meters. Besides two single beds, the rooms also have bedside tables, wardrobes, coffee tables, chairs, toilets, etc.

According to the Associated Press, on the 12th local time, construction workers began their work, loading the containers onto trucks one by one and sending them to the country's main port, Hamad Port. The Qatar side stated that a total of about 10,000 container houses and some camping vehicles will be provided to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey and Syria. Among them, 306 containers have already been loaded onto ships in Hamad Port on the 12th. It is reported that after renovation, each container can accommodate four people and is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom.
