Do you still remember the largest mobile hospital in Guangzhou - the Wanqingsha Mobile Hospital in Nansha, which was completed in 2022?
This place was claimed to have been completed in 15 days. After only half a month of its completion, it was opened due to the pandemic... But it has been left in a state of neglect for nearly three years.
However! Recently, it has been widely reported online that the project has already started the demolition process. Even the container-style temporary houses are being auctioned on Douyin for sale?
Is this really true or not? Just now, I went to the site.
The project is located in Wanqingsha, Nansha District. It is less than 2 kilometers away from the subway station with the same name, Line 18. It backs onto Evergrande Auto City and is surrounded by water on three sides. It can be regarded as a health resort.
In this not-so-common location, the scale of the mobile hospital is still astonishing even today.
It is known that the project consists of three plots, with a total area of approximately 810,000 square meters and a construction area of approximately 540,000 square meters. It plans to build over 20,000 rooms and can provide a cumulative total of 80,000 isolation beds, making it the largest isolation project built in Guangzhou during the epidemic.

The large scale is just one aspect;
What impressed the fans back then was that it announced the start of construction on the evening of November 14, 2022, and welcomed the first batch of isolation personnel to move in on the evening of November 28, 2022, with only a mere 15 days in between!
Undoubtedly, the Wanqingsha mobile hospital in the past represented Guangzhou speed and pride!
But when did the context about this project completely change?
On December 7 of the same year, less than 10 days after the first batch of isolation personnel moved in, the authorities implemented the "new ten measures" for epidemic prevention and control, stating that the plan is to fully open up, gradually weaken centralized isolation, and shift to home-based isolation as the main approach.

People were happy, but the huge investment, the round-the-clock construction efforts, and the project that was just completed recently were embarrassed. This huge temporary hospital is useless and needs to be left idle?
Yes!
According to the report released by Guangdong, within 5 to 7 days after the release of the "new ten measures", the Fangcang Hospitals in Pizhou, Zhongjiang Hospital Fangcang Hospital, Yixian Fangcang Hospital, and Fangcang Building No.1 in Pizhou, all in the urban area, successively announced the closure of their facilities.
The Dajiao Fangcang Hospital in Nansha, which is also located there, also sent the last batch of patients out of the facility on December 13th, ending its operation!

And the Wanqingsha Fangcang Hospital, from its construction to opening for visitors, only took a mere 15 days; from opening for visitors to closing and sealing the facility, it was also only around 15 days...
One can imagine that the 20,000+ rooms and 80,000+ beds inside would have many that have not been opened yet but are already covered in dust...
So, what has happened to this colossal structure that made all the people in Guangzhou understand each other and remain silent collectively?
Just now, I started a small plane to try to investigate and found that a crane had entered the construction site!
What is this?
It seems to be doing dismantling work!
Moreover, the dismantling work has already shown some results - the originally fully-packed container boxes have indeed quietly lost a piece??
The Wanqingsha Fangcang Hospital is really doing the dismantling!!
However, at this stage, I still dare not make a hasty assertion that the Wanqingsha Fangcang Hospital will undergo an overall dismantling.
Why?
As early as in the beginning of 2023, there was a rumor online that Guangzhou's Fangcang Hospitals were undergoing dismantling. However, the construction unit came out to firmly deny it, stating that "the actual organization of dismantling was the temporary living quarters for isolation workers, not the dismantling of the Fangcang Hospital itself".
The source of this information is the official denial statement from the construction unit.
What I need to further confirm comes from a public announcement of a document.
On February 28th this year, the Guangzhou Property Exchange released three batches of transfer announcements for packaging boxes and other state-owned assets.

Coincidentally, the principal bidders for these three state-owned projects were all Guangzhou Nansha Municipal Engineering Co., Ltd., and they coincided with the number of three plots for the Wengingsha Temporary Hospital.

Currently, the official website shows that the packaging boxes and other materials for these three plots have been successfully transferred, with a cumulative amount of approximately 51.79 million yuan, and the final transaction amount exceeded 100 million yuan, equivalent to being 100% higher than the transfer price!

What does the transfer of these packaging boxes mean?
The Wengingsha Temporary Hospital may soon see the word "destruction" written in all capital letters!
Source: Guangzhou Property Exchange
The document mentions that the transferor confirms that the transferee has paid the transaction price and the deposit, and the "Asset Transaction Contract" becomes effective within 3 working days, and the transfer target can be transferred.
After being reviewed by the transferor, construction can be carried out on site; the transfer target must be dismantled completely and transferred to the transferor's site within 60 natural days after the handover!
That is to say, if it's quick, we may, perhaps, possibly, see the complete dismantling and clearance of the container-style temporary housing of Wengingsha Temporary Hospital around May or June!
I guess, at this point, many people will have a question in mind -
If the Wengingsha Temporary Hospital really needs to be completely demolished, did it make a profit or a loss?
The economic account behind this is very complex, and many costs such as labor and logistics have not been disclosed.
I can only start from the most basic cost material - the packaging box, which is also the container.
Firstly, how much did it cost to install a container isolation ward at Wengingsha Hospital in that year?
According to the report by Yinan News in 2023, the cost of the hospital beds in the temporary hospital varies greatly due to factors such as usage scenarios, usage period, and construction methods.
Source: Yinan News
Let's take the lower limit, assuming that the cost of a bed in Wengingsha Hospital is only 30,000 yuan, and a isolation ward has 4 beds, then the cost of one container may be at least 120,000 yuan.

And some netizens "revealed" that the actual cost seems to be far more than this amount. The installation cost of one container at Wengingsha Hospital reached 500,000 yuan!
